Let's Get Ready For The Season!

Let's Get Started!

1. USA Lacrosse Membership

Ensure that your USA Lacrosse membership is up-to-date for the upcoming season.

New officials will need to create an account and Returning officials will need to renew their membership. If you are currently a member of USA Lacrosse and registered as a coach, player or parent category, you must update your membership category (to add "Official") online within your account.  If you are a New Junior Official, you must call the Membership Department at (410) 235-6882 Ext. 102 and ask them to register you as an "official".  They will help you create your own USA Lacrosse access to resources as an official.

Updating your membership category to include "official" will unlock access to online training resources (like a mandatory course, and the rules test).  Renewing thereafter should be easier and can be done online.

Make sure to add "WALOA" as your officiating organization.

2. Register with WALOA/Arbiter

All officials in Washington State are registered with WALOA. WALOA provides training and scheduling services for all levels of officials. Registration with WALOA is completed using the Arbiter website.

New officials will need to create an Arbiter account.

Make sure to use YOUR email and phone number, not your parent's. (Games are assigned through text messages and emails)                                                                                                                                                                   The annual registration fee is $50.00 for Youth Game officials and $75.00 for High School officials.

You must have an Arbiter account and pay your dues prior to being assigned games.

3. USA LACROSSE ONLINE RULES & PENALTY COURSE

***Complete the USA Lacrosse online Rules & Penalty Course***

This course is designed to walk officials through the rule book to introduce rules and penalties BEFORE a new official participates in a classroom clinic or field training. Both new and returning officials must complete this online course (much shorter for returning officials). You must be registered as an official with USA Lacrosse to have access to this course.

4. Complete Annual Classroom/Field Training

USA Lacrosse requires all officials to attend classroom/field training every year. For NEW Officials there will be a longer session, to review what you learned online. NEW Officials will also attend a "field Day" to apply their newly learned skills in a controlled game environment, typically a jamboree.Returning Official often assist in training the new officials during the jamborees.Click the link below for a listing of scheduled Classroom/Field Training sessions for 2022.

5. Get Your Stripes!

Order and purchase uniform items

There are three websites listed on WALOA training page.  You can choose to use any, but our recommendation is to go to zebrawear.com and select the “Stro” Elite starter pack.

It includes everything listed below except belt, shorts, pants, shoes and socks.

We suggest paying the extra $15 and have the patches sewn on.

  • Striped Shirt (with US Flag above left pocket) – USL Patch Optional
  • Officials black hat with white piping
  • Fox 40 Whistle
  • Flags (2)
  • Pocket Tape Measure
  • Scorecard/Pencil
  • TIMER (mandatory for 7-8 and HS games)
